We arrived after 28 hours of travel! What a blessing to be greeted by Joao Saraiva and his fiance Caroline. We arrived at the church about 2pm. Dinner was waiting for us with Pastor and Mrs. Saraiva greeting us at Igregia Batista em Dom Pedro. We ate well, got moved into our rooms at the church and traveled to a nearby Baptist church to join them for a walk to the World Cup Stadium in Manaus.
This was a trial to see how close the police would let us come to the stadium to do evangelism. We got within 500 yards and they said no closer. The fans for Italy and England were starting to arrive. There were police everywhere in large groups and with guns. They were friendly, but encouraged us to go up the street toward the church we were staying at. We were able to hand out some tracts, smile and pray. Next game, we will set up right in front of the church and maybe make bracelets for people.
We got back to the church at about 4:30 pm, showered and at a light dinner with Joao`s family at their house right next to the church. We even watched some of the soccer game. Then off to the mall to get frozen Acai in a cup. Walked around for a while and now ready to crash after team devos in our rooms. AC is working and so is the internet….PRAISE GOD.
