Brazil #1 Sports Outreach Weekend

Joseph Keith

SATURDAY

Today was another sports outreach. Only had to walk about 200 meters from our host home this morning. Breakfast was served to us at 7.30am. Ministry started at 9am with music by Like and Katherine, testimony by Katherine, Bible story by Luke, games by Julia and Sane, more music by Katherine and Luke, soccer games for 4 age groups and prizes at the end. Had about 40 children. Great day to watch God at work.

Tonight we are going to our host home’s church for worship. May God be praised in our lives and in the lives of the precious children we met today.

SUNDAY

Started with great breakfast prepared by Wilma De Sousa, our hostess. Then, we walked around the corner to Igresia Batista Mount Horeb. We attended the youth and adult Sunday School. Then we went to worship service. It was dedicated much to Julia sharing about the ministry of YMI. Sane and Bruce also shared about the impact of YMI in their lives as well. Luke and Katherine led the whole congrgation in singing “Inside My Heart” with all the motions. All ages were participating. The kids did not want Luke and Katherine to leave. It was awesome.

In the afternoon, we came back to Dom Pedro church to prepare for street outreach to fans coming in for the USA v. Portugal game. Another Baptist Church youth group joined us and Dom Pedro youth. There were about 40 of us. We contacted over 120 Americans from over 25 different US states with face painting, bracelets and literature. It was wonderful to see God at work planting seeds in so many different ways.

MONDAY

Our current hosts here in Manaus own and run 3 private schools. We went to the largest one for K-6 grades. It was a school day off so we invited the neighborhood kids and the school kids came also…about 34 children. Luke shared his testimony, Katherine gave the Bible story. Katherine and Luke led songs. They both presented with excellence.

We played game of tails and did agility games. Then we ran a soccer tournament. The kids were great. Epic rain and lightening put the lights out at the restaurant we were eating at last night…. all part of the adventure we are find ourselves on. God be with you as we seek to finish strong here for Jesus.
